SPE-1000 Special Inspections

SPE-1000 is a Model Code used to evaluate electrical equipment that cannot go through standard certification. This field evaluation allows approved products to be labeled and accepted by Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJ)in Canada.

Eligible Products Include:

* Custom-built or one-off equipment

* Non-certified products (≤ 500 units/year per model)

* On-site systems awaiting AHJ approval

* Equipment not covered under regular certification

* Complete systems/subassemblies ready for testing

* Other devices as permitted by AHJ

Not Eligible:

* Wire, cable, and wiring devices

* Medical or hazardous location equipment

* Components like switches/relays

* Equipment over 46 kV

* Manlifts, elevators (excluding control panels)

* AHJ-prohibited items (e.g., ozone-generating devices)
